5 Q’s With Wes Schmidt, Chief Revenue Officer

Alviere is thrilled to welcome Wes Schmidt to its senior management team as Chief Revenue Officer.

A fintech industry veteran, Wes has more than 20 years of experience leading teams around the world. Prior to joining Alviere, he led strategic accounts for Thomson Reuters Americas, and held a variety of positions building and developing global sales teams in EMEA and APAC. Most recently, he held the position of Group Global Head of Strategic Accounts at Refinitiv, a London Stock Exchange Group business.

Alviere caught up with Wes to learn more about his role in the company, hear his thoughts about the evolving fintech world, and catch a glimpse of his life outside the nine to five.

Let’s kick things off with a top-of-mind question: Why Alviere?

Wes: It’s such an exciting organization and space. Our embedded finance solution offers an incredible opportunity for us to not only strengthen the brands we partner with, but to positively impact the end consumers. I was able to personally relate to experiences I've had with the brands I interact with on a daily basis, and I knew I wanted to be a part of the evolution. From my early conversations with Yuval and the rest of the leadership team, we discussed the incredible opportunity around market expansion. My global experience and views were fully aligned on the approach for our go-to-market organization, and I'm excited to continue increasing the momentum.

What will be your main focus at Alviere?

Wes: As Chief Revenue Officer, I will oversee all revenue-generating activities leading the front-line organization. The objective is to globally scale the sales organization by entering new markets, partnering with new brands, implementing Alviere's solutions, and delivering the highest level of customer service.

What excites you most about the fintech industry?

Wes: I've been working in the fintech industry for 24 years and it never ceases to amaze me by how rapidly it continues to evolve. Consumers constantly change their habits as well as their interaction expectations — whether it revolves around trading, digital payments, credit usage, rewards, etc. As the consumer evolves, it creates incredible opportunities to align with their expectations by creating partnerships and bringing solutions to market.

Outside of the office, what are your hobbies and interests?

Wes: I love to golf and surf with my two sons and daughter. I'm also an avid traveler and love experiencing new places and immersing myself in local culture and cuisine.

If you could pick any destination for a spontaneous vacation, where would it be and why?

Wes: Spontaneous means it needs to be somewhere that’s easy to get to that requires less planning, so I'll have to pass on the Maldives. I love Costa Rica. The people are incredible and the country is absolutely beautiful. You can experience the rainforest, the mountains, which remind me of Switzerland, black and white sand beaches, incredible waves, and hot springs — all while immersing yourself in the spirit of “Pura Vida.”
