FAQ for payment service providers

Global payments fuel worldwide enterprises, with cross-border money movement at the core. In this blog post, we address the key questions that arise when companies consider expanding payments originating from the U.S.

Q: How can Alviere help payment service providers?

A: Partnering with Alviere via our technology platform and expert services, can provide access to offering financial products in the U.S.

Q: What kinds of companies does Alviere typically work with?

A: Alviere is built for scale and stability, so we work with established companies in other geographies who have significant current or expected volume. Because we partner directly with our clients, we conduct a thorough risk assessment during the discovery process with each client.

Q: Do we need a payout partner?

A: Yes. Alviere has an extensive network of 100+ countries for payout locations, so having an existing partner in the destination geographies speeds the program.

Q: How does working with Alviere give us more control?

A: Rather than working through traditional banks for money transmission, Alviere clients collaborate on pricing, fees and FX rates. This includes cost per corridor to ensure the most effective program.

Q: How does the pricing structure work?

A: We work closely with our clients and partners to develop sharing agreements with both fixed and variable pricing components. These agreements are then implemented into the Alviere HIVE technology platform, with Alviere owning all fund flows.

Q: Who owns the treasury flows?

A: From a regulatory standpoint, Alviere owns the end-to-end funds flow process.. As part of the partnership discovery process to structure the flow of funds, settlement can be periodic or just-in-time (JIT).

Q: What is the payout model?

A: This is another element of the program where we partner closely to determine the best model. Payouts can be pre-funded for immediate settlement or post-funded, which may incur interest.

Q: Do funds ever flow to a 3rd party?

A: No. As a licensed money transmitter, all funds flow through Alviere, never to a third party account or bank.

Q: Can Alviere access any corridor in the world?

A: No. We abide by the sanctions and rules regulating international money transfers. We do not use any corridors that are prohibited or present excessive risk to our clients or to Alviere.

Q: Alviere offers a lot of flexibility, what are the limitations?

A: In addition to prohibited corridors, know your customer (KYC) and know your business (KYB) standards are always required. There is no flexibility when it comes to regulations and compliance oversight.

Q: How does Alviere manage fraud risk?

A: Alviere’s internal compliance and fraud teams, combined with AI and machine learning algorithms, continuously monitor transactions to mitigate fraud risk. This monitoring is applied throughout the program from inception to large scale transactions.

Q: Does Alviere own end-customer acquisition?

A: No. While we work closely to ensure the program is secure, compliant and sustainable, our clients manage end-user Marketing and promotion. However, all Marketing materials and end-user promotions require prior approval from Alviere to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations on advertising.

Q: Does Alviere work with non-U.S. banks?

A: We do. We can assist banks that operate in different countries, but are looking to expand money transfers originating from the U.S.
